Your Responsibilities as a Professional Plumber

As a plumber at JW Marriott Kigali, you'll handle a diverse range of plumbing challenges in a complex hospitality setting. Your work begins with fixing minor plumbing problems like unclogging drains and diagnosing issues through systematic testing. You'll fill pipes and plumbing fixtures with water or air to detect and locate leaks work that requires precision and problem-solving skills.

Your technical expertise includes assembling pipe sections, tubing, and fittings according to specifications. You'll measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the exact angles required for each installation. You'll install and maintain pipe assemblies, valves, appliances, and fixtures throughout the property, ensuring they meet both performance standards and aesthetic expectations befitting a luxury hotel.

Beyond installations, you'll perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, extending the lifespan of critical systems and preventing emergency repairs. You'll also study building plans and inspect structures to plan new installations, working from detailed blueprints and building codes to ensure compliance with all standards.

The Qualifications You'll Need

This position requires two critical certifications: a Plumber Certification and a Stationary Engineer/Boiler Operator License. These aren't just bureaucratic requirements they demonstrate your competency and commitment to the profession. Additionally, a technical, trade, or vocational school degree is preferred, along with at least two years of related plumbing work experience.

The physical demands of the role are significant. You'll need to move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds without assistance, and assist with objects exceeding 100 pounds. You'll reach overhead and below the knees, bend, twist, and stoop regularly. Ladder work is part of the job, as is standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
